Richard Hopkins, a seasoned Formula One veteran with nearly three decades in the sport, began his F1 journey at 16 in 1987.

Notably, he served as Head of Operations for Red Bull’s F1 Team, instrumental in transforming them into consecutive World Championship winners.

Relocating from the UK to Australia in 2016, Richard now holds the position of Professor of Practice at UNSW Sydney, leading the groundbreaking Sunswift Racing prototype EV project, setting Guinness World Records for long-range electric vehicles.

Additionally, he serves as the High Performance Adviser for Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Australian Supercar team, nurturing young racing talent through the Foundation Academy.

A British native with over 25 years of experience in Formula One, Richard relocated to Australia in 2016.

His latest venture HEVN Automotive, has the ambition to reignite Australia’s automotive industry. Building climate zero production cars with a focus on innovation, design and sustainably – all underpinned by F1 technology.

Prior to Richard moving to Australia, he was the Head of Operations for the Red Bull Formula One Team. Richard played a pivotal role in changing the team’s fortunes from having never won a Grand Prix, to turning them into a consecutive World Championship-winning team.

Richard started working in F1 at the age of 16 in 1987 and spent a total of 28 years working alongside world-leading technology and some of the world’s best engineers, innovators, and some incredible racing drivers. The knowledge and experience he gained along the way is now being used in his next chapter.
