Presentation Title:  Solvesso™ 100: Adapting to Cumene Reclassification In the 18th Adaptation to Technical and scientific Progress

Presentation Abstract: In the 18th Adaptation to Technical and scientific Progress (ATP), the harmonized classification of cumene was updatedto Carcinogen category 1B. Following that, all products in the European Union containing cumene in concentrations at or above 0.1% must be reclassified as Carcinogen category 1B. Common raw materials in surface coatings formulation, such as heavy aromatics products and white spirit, contain more than 0.1% of cumene. Therefore, this regulatory update drives the need for adjustments in the formulation of surface coatings. Solvesso™ 100 Ultra Low Cumene (ULC) was developed to address the challenges posed by cumene’s reclassification for coatings manufacturers. With its low cumene content, Solvesso 100 ULC enables manufacturers to prevent a Carcinogen category 1B classification in their finished products, even when formulating with heavy aromatics products or white spirit. This presentation will introduce Solvesso 100 ULC, its manufacturing process and key product properties. Reformulation experience of our partners with Solvesso 100 ULC will also be highlighted to support manufacturers in their transition to a new raw material.
