Presentation Title: Synergistic effects of titanium dioxide and polymer dispersions for extremely stain resistant paints and coatings
Presentation Abstract: Improving the stain resistance of water based paints and coatings remains a challenge. Thanks to a cooperation between Alberdingk Boley and Kronos, a new type of titanium dioxide was developed which helps to improve the quality of film formation in water based systems. The paper will show the impact of using special polymer dispersions in conjunction with various titanium dioxide qualities and the consequences for the stain resistance. Examples in decorative paints and wood coatings will show the potential of this technology which will allow to make paints with a completely different level of chemical resistance and practical use for the consumers.
